Jaisamand Consortium |
Initiatives in Jaisamand CAtchment area focus on the Village resource Centre aty Bambora |
SPWD started working on issues related to natural resources in Jaisamand in early 90s. From the early work related to pastureland development and watershed management, which apart from looking at issues related to natural resource regeneration also focussed on the complexties involved in insitutional development and related conflict management.
Later on SPWD with its partners was able to evolve a forum called Jaisamand consortium which began to look at issues in the catchment area of Jaisamand. Armed with the use of remote sensing and GIS tools , SPWD was able to forge a partnership with RRSSC , Jodhpur to set up a Village resource Centre at Bambora with one of its three partners Prayatna Samiti.
The resource centre has been the rallying ground for training on various aspects of natural resource management on t he one hand and institutional development on the other. Through the medium of a famrers Sammelan , the Consortium was able to get together farmers from over 25 villages to share their experiences on various aspects of NRM. The consortium too shared the product of various studies many done with GIS tools.
The forum either individually or collectively is developing multiple approaches to deal with the complexities being faced in context of agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry , pastureland development , ming and livelihood generation . An innovative approach to micro planning has been attempted combining the skills of the rural community with that of researchers using GPS and the GIS format . Teh product of this exercise has been widely shared across the country.
The Consotium hopes to make the Village resource centre at Bambora a model for innovation and a tool for transalting the research work advanced techniques at the Universities into a language that the farmers can understand.

Best Marketing Campaign |
It has often been said that the best of products is useless if not marketed properly. The same is valid for real estate as well.We may have the best of products but till the time it is not presented well to the prospective customers, it is worthless. An effective marketing campaign is crucial for the success of any product. The aim of the campaign must be to get the message across to the prospective customers. At many times a variety of mediums is required to obtain the sales objective. |

BEST CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY |
Raheja Developers Ltd. is doing its best for supporting the underprivileged. Some of the activities that the company is involved with are:
We provide safety nets, helmets and other safety equipments at all our construction sites for the welfare and well being of the workers at the site.
We are introducing a provision of free food and nutrition to the workers on sites at least once a week while simultaneously educating them on topics ranging from how to improve efficiency at work and also on how to lead a progressive and responsible life.
We have introduced a system of primary education with the facilities of day care centers for the children of the laborers on each site where they are provided with all the three meals, clothes and books in order to make them responsible citizens in the future.
Probably one of the biggest social initiatives that our organization is involved with is the running of Gayatri Sansthan, a non-profit organization for educating underprivileged children. They are taught various primary school subjects like English, Maths, Hindi, Computers along with Yoga, Yagya and the Vedic way of life. The biggest aim that the company wants to achieve through the Sansthan eventually is to teach and guide these children an ethical and socially responsible way of leading their lives in the future. This will enable them to be self-reliant and we expect that this would mould the future of our Nation. The Sansthan has already been able to bring about a difference in the lives of these children and we are hopeful that with the passing times, they will have a brighter future.

Best Consumer Protection |
Being a builder is not just about putting up concrete structures, collecting money and making the balance sheets grow in figures and numbers. Rather, It is about shouldering a much larger social responsibility wherein a person's life earnings are at stake for a shelter of his dreams or a commercial base to flourish.
Therefore, the buildings should be constructed on the stronger foundation of faith and commitments. A builder should not collect money without getting fully satisfied about the title and all the statutory clearances.
Then, we should think about the needs of the end users of the apartments, shops and offices .We should not aim at constructing buildings with just brick and mortar, but with feelings...and a goal to deliver the best.
We must make a difference in the life of every person and uplift society benchmarks so that we are able to create a better tomorrow for everyone.
Our organization would first like to become a better citizen of the society before becoming World's best construction company.
We should be careful in looking at the welfare of every worker and laborer for it is they who construct our houses brick by brick.
We should also not forget about our planet, that has permitted us to live on it. Thus, our buildings should be environment friendly causing least burden on the natural resources.

FUNGISOME – A LIPOSOMAL AMPHOTERICIN B : THE MOST SAFE AND MOST EFFECTIVE ANTI-FUNGAL DRUG OF THE WORLD |
Treatment of Systemic Mycosis has been a major challenge for scientists involved in drug discovery and development and physicians treating such patients. Fungal infections are common in patients with diseases causing immune impairment. Majority of such patients are those undergoing Organ Transplantation such as Kidney or Bone-Marrow Transplantation and Cancer Patients undergoing Chemotherapy. Systemic Mycosis is also an important concern in patients of HIV and patients subjected to invasive procedures such as Dialysis and complicated Surgeries. Diabetics, Burn victims and Neonates are also prone to immune impairment and thus to fungal infections.
Due to complex technical limitations confirmed diagnosis of fungal infections ranges from difficult to impossible. Any ideal anti-fungal drug must be broad-spectrum, potent, free of adverse effects and toxicities and affordable. FUNGISOME i.v. innovated for commercialization by Lifecare Innovations adopting and employing indigenous technology developed with support from the Ministry of Science & Technology. Increased efficacy at low dose has improved clinical outcome by minimizing morbidity and mortality. Improved efficacy at lower dose has also rendered it more affordable and facilitated use to 15 times more patients of Systemic Mycosis than all the three imported alternative products put together. Being the most broad-spectrum, most effective and most safe of all the anti-fungals ever developed in a century of global efforts, FUNGISOME i.v. is the new Gold Standard for treatment of life-threatening fungal infections today.

By the students for the students |
Underprivileged students become passive learners as they don’t find school education interesting & relevant. Applicant did novel experiment of getting video films produced by one such group of students and showed these videos to another group of students.
Every stage of video production process brought about qualitative change in ‘producer’ student’s personality. ‘Viewer’ student could easily relate to videos as there was not barrier like mismatched language or unfamiliar situation. They got inspired by the same. Video provided stimulation to both for study. It is a unique concept in Distance education field.

Dahanu Thermal Power Station, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd |
Sea water based Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD), a new technology adopted by DTPS removes over 90% of sulphur-di-oxide from boiler flue gases. |
Electricity is needed for the growth of agriculture, manufacturing and service sector. Near 50% of rural India is still not connected with electricity. It needs to scale up Indian power generation to 8,00,000 MW by 2030 which is likely to increase SO2 emissions. Some ecologically sensitive areas already demand action to keep emissions at minimum. Dahanu Thermal Power Station (DTPS) of Reliance Infra Ltd situated in ecologically sensitive area was required to minimize SO2 emission that needed adoption of technology for Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD). New FGD removes over 90% of SO2 from boiler flue gases by using natural alkalinity of seawater. Process does not need lime stone power and generates no solid waste. FGD discharge water has no adverse impact on marine environment, as studied by expert agencies. |

Office of the Collector & District Magistrate Jalgaon |
e- Lokshahi (IVRS Based primary information and public grievance system) |
E-Lokshahi (IVRS Based System)
With a view to provide citizen centric & transparent administration, the District collector & District Magistrate, Jalgaon has developed an Integrated Voice Response System to provide a 24 hour online public grievance redressal system and FAQ forum being used widely through telephone and mobile.
Citizens have to dial (0257)- 2222222 to access the service. Except the ordinary telephone call charges there is no other charges laid down for this service.
It is an innovative project of District Collector Office, Jalgaon to have a direct conversation between citizens & administration. Using this platform citizens can access primary information or can register their grievances from their home. The concerned officer receives the grievance and records his answer in the system, which reaches the citizen at his home too. Thus this is a complete system right from a module for registering grievances to module for reply of grievances to the citizens. This system is fully automated without human intervention so it is made operational 365 x 24 x 7.
The system can be accessed through internet explorer by www.jalgaon.gov.in/elokshahi/ or http://59.90.140.87/elokshahi/.
Important features of system.
1) The system is operational 365 x 24 x 7 .
2) Citizens can access the service from their home for primary information or registration/ solution of grievances.
3) For every type of grievance, time schedule is given for the officers to reply. If not replied in time, the system generated SMS will be escalated to senior level officer. Escalation at up to four levels of officers are defined for every type.

Immunize India's Children |
Seva Mandir, Vidya Bhavan & J-PAL at MIT did a cross sectional survey of 134 hamlets in rural Udaipur to collect information on the immunization status of children in 2003. The results showed full immunization rates to be 2.66% only.
Based on these findings Seva Mandir in collaboration with the Rajasthan Government implemented an action research project to improve immunization.
The research approach was to ensure regular camps in half the hamlets and in the other half hamlets, supplementing regular camps with an incentive to parents).
The intervention hamlets with incentive showed 38.3% complete immunization of children in the age group 12-23 months, in the non-incentive intervention hamlets it was 16.6% and in control hamlets it reached 6.2%.

Dr. Reddy's Foundation |
LIvelihood Advancement Business School (LABS) |
While employment avenues are increasing in India’s rapidly growing economy, they are not being filled by people with compatible skill-sets. Unemployment, therefore, continues to rise inexorably. The result is perpetuation of poverty, right in the midst of opportunity. The huge pool of school drop-outs thrown up by the system year after year renders itself unfit for sustainable mainstream employment.
To minimize the mismatch between the demand for jobs and their availability, Dr. Reddy’s Foundation (DRF) helps poor youth acquire livelihood and soft skills in an environment of learning and mentoring that is responsive to the individual’s emotional and developmental needs. The Livelihood Advancement Business School (LABS) program of DRF is a pioneering public-private partnership model that involves the government, corporate enterprises, local communities and individuals.

Innovative approaches for delivering primary healthcare access to remote rural villages |
Conceptualization, design, and operation of health care clinics (Named as “Kai Raasi” clinics, which translates to “Good Fortune” clinics) in small remote villages on a user co-pay model. The objective of this innovation is to ensure last mile availability of basic healthcare at these remote villages. The “Kai Raasi” clinics would function at the villages at a specified time that is convenient to the villagers. In addition to the substantial cost and time savings, the villagers have also benefitted from the proximity of the clinics as they are able to get their ailments treated promptly.
Currently there is a large gap in the healthcare facilities that seek to address the twin issues of accessibility as well as capability. Setting up of “Kai Raasi” clinics is an attempt to bridge this gap by providing primary healthcare from qualified medical doctors to the door steps of disadvantaged villages. Currently operational in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu, the “Kai Raasi” clinics operate in those villages where the average distance to Primary Healthcare Center (PHC) is about 7 kms. It has been estimated that the clinics on an average can result in a total cost saving of around 95% for the villagers for each visit to the healthcare centre.

Society for Rural Industrialisation |
Aditya Energy System |
The innovation is mission driven which states: “Homes in the remotest hamlets in India shall have light whenever the family needs it.”
The mission essentially set forth three principles which cannot be compromised:
1. the system must be stand alone one that can be installed and operated in adverse weather condition without external assistance.
2. the technology management (TM) must be within the capability level of the community and,
3. The community has to take the responsibility to ensure that the system meets the demand of the families.
Since there is no example of a model which satisfies three criterion, not only in India but also any where in the world SRI took up a multi innovation approach for the task. An Energy Devices Laboratory was established and three electrical engineers two mechanical engineers and two social scientist formed the working group. To make clear the innovation involved the physical description of Aditya Energy System is presented first.
